7 Ideas For an Unforgettable Trip to Central Europe

AUSTRIA, CZECH REPUBLIC, EUROPE, FRANCE, GERMANY, HUNGARY, IRELAND, LIFESTYLE, LONDON, LUXURY TRAVEL DESTINATIONS, TRAVEL, UNITED KINGDOM

Central Europe is the ultimate holiday destination, perfect if you wish to explore its distinctive culture, prosperous cities, and various historical and cultural heritage sites. However, it may appear to be quite difficult to plan an ideal trip, as there is too much to explore. Here is why we are here to assist you with the list of the top 7 ideas for an unforgettable trip to Central Europe!

#1 Germany and Poland

We suggest tackling two countries at once, depending on your time. So, let’s start with Germany and Poland. Both cultural and rich, the countries have a lot in common, but yet are so distinctly different at the same time. Spend the first half of your trip getting to know Germany and its famous attractions, such as the Berlin Brandenburg Gate and Cologne Cathedral. Afterward, take the train to Warsaw, and continue with your holiday. Apart from exploring the beautiful cities of Warsaw, Krakow, and others, we strongly suggest you make your way to see the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum – one of the most important historical sites not only in Poland but in Europe.

#2 Austria and the Czech Republic

These two neighbors often come as a package deal since they are somewhat similar and very easy to travel between! Enjoy the lavish culture of Austria, and explore museums of art, music, and history, especially Austria’s Imperial Palace, the Schonbrunn Palace in Vienna, and the picturesque town of Hallstatt. There is plenty to see here, but if you use your days accordingly, you will be ready for the Vienna to Prague train after a few days! After arriving in the Czech Republic, make your way to Prague’s Old Town and its Castle. You should absolutely walk the historic Charle’s Bridge connecting the two and enjoy the rustic feel of the city. We also suggest stopping by and trying out their local cuisine!

#3 Slovakia and Slovenia

The two friends with very similar names are actually a great pair for your Central Europe trip! First, start with Slovakia and discover the beauty that tourists often overlook. There are both cultural and natural sides to it, so start with Bratislava City Museum to get a firm grasp of Slovakia’s essence. We also suggest visiting any of the castles that would work well within your itinerary; there are over 100 of them, and most are fairytale-looking and gorgeous. When you get to Slovenia afterward, explore the enchanting landscapes of Lake Bled and Vintgar Gorge, a stunning crisscross along the Radovna River. You should also make time to thoroughly inspect Ljubljana and its most prominent monuments.

#4 The Czech Republic and Hungary

Yet another great duo! We suggest you start with the Czech Republic and explore it thoroughly, visiting several cities. The country is very easily explorable, too. Meaning there are many convenient ways to travel around; we especially suggest trains. For example, you can leave Prague, take a trip to Kutna Hora, then to Brno, and back to the capital on the Brno to Prague train. The world of the Czech Republic is your oyster! And, it is just as easy to reach Hungary. Explore the lavish architecture of its most significant monuments, like the Parliament Building, Buda Castle, and its whole district. Both countries balance each other out perfectly, so consider that!

#5 Germany and Austria

Historically, the two were quite closely connected, and it is great to visit both on your holiday, if only just to compare the similarities and differences. Culturally, there are not many differences between the two, although people say that when you enter one after leaving another, the change is immediate and apparent. So, maybe make a trip to both and see for yourself. Is it true?

#6 Ireland and the United Kingdom

For most travelers, the two are inseparable. So naturally, if you are visiting one, why not visit the other? If you start with Ireland, make sure to explore their culture in Dublin, the capital city. While there are plenty of great cities here, Dublin holds all the cards if you wish to know Ireland in depth. First, visit the tourist attractions and try out their cuisine! Afterward, check out their top natural destinations – for example, the Cliffs of Moher and Giant’s Causeway. The rest of the UK is so incredible you might only have time to see bits and pieces, but even if so, be ready for an incredible experience. Travel to Scotland for that vintagey, mystic feel of their castles and natural grounds, and explore the royal side of England!

#7 France and Belgium

France and Belgium were always considered two peas in a pod. But, if you visit both during the same trip, you will notice some obvious differences. Spend some time in France, exploring the lavish and cultural background, the most popular tourist attractions, and live a little, enjoying their cuisine and wine. In fact, I recently wrote a 5-step guide to wine tasting in France. There is something very magical about the country, and hopefully, you feel it, too. When in Belgium, explore their most impressive buildings and architecture overall. It is home to some of the most important headquarters of the EU, so dive in deep to get that knowledge!

There you go! 7 great ways and ideas to spice up your Central Europe trip. Follow our suggestions, and hopefully, this one will be unforgettable. Good luck, and enjoy your Eurotrip!
