At the foot of Table Mountain in Cape Town, South Africa, you can find the beautiful More Quarters Hotel. Made up of 18 luxury apartments, More Quarters gives guests the chance to enjoy the privacy of renting an apartment while providing the services and amenities of a luxury hotel, and the opportunity to explore all that Cape Town has to offer.
We arrived and promptly checked in at the lobby, a cozy space with sofas by a fireplace where refreshments are served all day. We were each welcomed with a drink, along with the keys to our apartment and our luggage was brought to our rooms for us.
One of More Quarters’ greatest asset is its idyllic location: not only is the hotel in close proximity to one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World, Table Mountain, but guests can easily access quirky boutiques, picturesque beaches, winning wineries, and, of course, unique wildlife. The hotel specializes in exciting outings and the must-sees of Cape Town life; we were amazed by how much we packed into one trip! In one day, we managed to travel to the most south-west point of Africa while enjoying the breathtaking views of Chapman’s Peak Drive where we saw both baboons and ostriches. We also got to visit adorable penguins in their natural home in Boulders Beach, and tour the most beautiful garden in Africa: Kirstenbosch Gardens.
Accommodations
I love traveling, but hate feeling lost amongst the crowds. One of the advantages of luxury travel is privacy, and More Quarters delivers by ensuring guests their own space while maintaining their cleaning services and other amenities. There are 15 beautifully furnished One-Bedroom Apartments complete with a lounge and kitchen, four of which also have a sleeper couch for little ones. If you’re traveling as a group, there are 3 Two-Bedroom Apartments that are perfect for four people with the same amenities as the smaller apartments.
As there were five of us, we stayed in the spacious Redcliffe House. Decorated with both modern art and Victorian design, the airy rooms and natural light offer the perfect atmosphere for a vacation getaway. There were four bedrooms, one private plunge pool, a dining table with space for ten, and a gorgeous view of Table Mountain.
Dining
Breakfast is available to all guests every morning in the dining room above the lounge. Each morning, we sat down for delicious pastries, fresh fruit, assorted cheeses and charcuterie, or could choose an item off the menu. Every evening in the lounge area between 5-7 p.m. they offered wines, cherry and an assortment of olives, jerky and pretzels. The staff was very friendly, and since we were there on Christmas, they gave us special chocolates and goodies the morning of which was a lovely touch!
On the first day, the artist in our group wanted to find a modern art museum, and the Concierge pointed us in the direction of MOCAA, also known as the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa. We spent the afternoon looking at some of the most popular and interesting contemporary pieces done by South African artists. Guests also have access to the Virgin Active Health Club, free Wi-Fi, as well as laundry and dry-cleaning services. Additionally, the Lounge has plenty of games and books for extra entertainment.
We enjoyed our time at More Quarters immensely and were sad to leave the luxurious Redcliffe House, our home away from home. Cape Town is an incredible city with lots to explore and we hope to visit again sometime soon!

This is GORGEOUS. Oh my goodness. That breakfast looked incredible! Can I ask how much you paid per night?
Carmen Edelson
It really varies depending on when you go and which apartment you’re staying in. The house is obviously the biggest and most expensive, starting at around $250 per person per night. The one and two bedroom apartments are a lot less. Hope that helps 🙂
Kelly
That’s actually not bad! Especially if you’re splitting it with other people. Thank you!

I might be in Cape Town this coming summer. You wrote this place is “at the foot” of the mountain. I assume it’s in a good location for someone exploring Cape Town, such as you, me? I like the idea of getting an apartment-like dwelling, not just a hotel room.
Carmen Edelson
Yes, you will love it! Cape Town is incredible.
Aireona

Lov that this place has so much going for it. Being close to Table Mountain is definitely a draw card, as it the ability to feel as though you are in your own private house, despite still having it maintained for you. With five people, I could just imagine all hanging around in that kitchen space and that pool area is just gorgeous too. Great to have tips like this on luxury, self catering apartments.
Carmen Edelson
Indeed! It was the perfect amount of space for five people and then some.
