Luxury Stay in London: Inside the One Bedroom Suite at Flemings Mayfair

Flemings Mayfair is a five-star boutique hotel nestled on Half Moon Street, one of the most charming corners of London’s Mayfair. Housed within a row of Grade II listed Georgian townhouses, the property blends classic London architecture with a sense of modern luxury. Its story stretches back to the mid-19th century, when Robert Fleming established it as a private hotel, and to this day, it retains that sense of heritage and intimacy. Walk through its doors and you’re surrounded by a quiet elegance that feels both historic and refreshingly contemporary — a rare balance in one of the city’s most exclusive neighborhoods.

The setting itself could not be more enviable. Mayfair has long been synonymous with prestige, lined with leafy squares, art galleries, and designer boutiques along Bond Street and Dover Street. The hotel is just steps away from Green Park, Hyde Park, and the West End, meaning you’re perfectly placed to explore both London’s cultural highlights and its luxury shopping scene. As a proud member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, Flemings Mayfair has recently undergone a thoughtful refurbishment, marrying 1930s glamour with soft, modern design details. With just 129 rooms and suites, the hotel retains an intimate scale, ensuring personalized service and the feeling that you’ve discovered one of London’s best-kept secrets.

Why It’s a True Five-Star Experience

You might ask: with so many luxury hotels in London, why choose Flemings? Let me count the ways:

  • Service & ambiance: From the moment I stepped through the door, staff greeted me as a guest — not a room number. Personal touches, discreet attentiveness, and genuine warmth were constant.

  • Distinctive style: Because no two rooms or suites are exactly the same, each stay feels unique. The interiors have a refined but inviting aesthetic, with nods to 1930s glamour yet entirely fresh.

  • Facilities & amenities: Free WiFi, full air-conditioning, Chromecast-enabled TVs, Tivoli radios with Bluetooth, bedside USB ports, and high-end toiletries (Asprey London, eco-friendly lines like Terre de Mars)

  • Dining excellence: The hotel is home to Ormer Mayfair, its Michelin-starred (as of 2024) fine-dining flagship restaurant. Moreover, the Drawing Room and Manetta’s Bar offer more relaxed but equally charming options for tea, cocktails, light fare, and social moments.

My Sanctuary: The One Bedroom Suite

Now, to the most delightful part: my home-away-from-home, the One Bedroom Suite! The suites boast a private entrance, offering a sense of seclusion even within the hotel. The layout is generously appointed yet artfully arranged: a separate dining-living area with sofa-bed, a separate cloakroom, and a full kitchen equipped with Siemens appliances (oven/hob, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer, dishwasher, microwave) and even a Nespresso machine.

In the sleeping quarters: a king-size bed, a dressing area, and an ensuite bathroom with both separate bathtub and rainfall shower where elegance meets function. The bathroom is stocked with luxe toiletries (Asprey London), plush bathrobes, and slippers. You’ll find thoughtful touches like bedside USB charging, in-room Chromecast, air conditioning, Tivoli radios with Bluetooth — all adding to the sense that this is not just a hotel suite but a private pied-à-terre for luxury travelers.

Dining & Indulgence

The culinary scene at Flemings perfectly complements its accommodation.

  • Ormer Mayfair is the hotel’s crown: a Michelin-starred restaurant under Chef Sofian Msetfi, offering a menu of elegant yet inventive modern British cuisine. It also holds four AA Rosettes, and is regularly ranked among London’s finest dining spots.

  • The Drawing Room is wonderfully warm: a refined space influenced by Indian décor, where you can enjoy tea, light bites, mellow ambiance, and relaxed conversation.

  • Manetta’s Bar, with its storied legacy (artists, writers, Mayfair personalities of the 1930s), feels like a hidden gem — perfect for evening cocktails or a nightcap.

Unfortunately, our stay was too short to enjoy all of these incredible dining options. However, we loved breakfast each morning served in the beautiful Order restaurant. They offer guests a thoughtfully curated buffet (or à la carte additions) that feels generous and elegant, with fresh produce, pastries, cooked options, and attentive service.

My stay at Flemings Mayfair was a reminder that true luxury is about ease, beauty, and thoughtful service at every turn. Perfectly situated in the heart of Mayfair (my favorite London neighborhood!), the hotel blends timeless elegance with modern comfort, offering spacious suites, Michelin-starred dining, and more. For travelers seeking a refined London escape with both heritage and warmth, Flemings Mayfair is an unforgettable choice!
