How to Enjoy Luxury Travel on a Budget

Luxury travel is something many people aspire to, but the very nature of it means that it is out of reach for those on lower incomes. If you have a yearning for the kind of luxury vacation that you think is beyond your means, you might be surprised to discover that you can enjoy a taste of the good life without having to remortgage your home!

Here are some clever ideas for dipping your toes into the luxury lifestyle that could be within your reach.

Last minute deals

If you can be flexible about when you take your vacation, then you could snap up a bargain by grabbing a last-minute deal just before the departure day. You will need to be patient and keep an eye on what comes up for late bookings, but this is a great way to bag a luxury break at a greatly reduced price. Hotels, tour companies, and airlines would rather sell at a lower price than not at all, but they aren’t going to start discounting until all hope for a full-price sale is gone. That means you would potentially need to be able to depart within hours of making your booking. If you don’t have the option of taking time off work at the last minute, you could book a random week off, and simply wait and see what offers are around at the time. This does add an extra element of excitement to the process, as you’ll have no idea where you could end up!

Luxury packages

There are travel operators offering luxury breaks that needn’t break the bank if you know where to look. Websites like Teletext Holidays provide low cost all inclusive holidays to exotic locations such as Tenerife and Corfu. If you book a package deal, you’ll avoid incurring extra charges and pay a price that you know will cover all your expenses – apart from some spending money. This helps you to budget more effectively and have a clear idea of what the entire experience is going to cost.

Or there are unique websites like Thrillism which can help you book your next surf trip if you’re someone who enjoys fun in the sun! In fact, if you sign up for their email alerts, they offer incredible deals up to 90% off for affordable surf trips, camps, and more.

Time and place

You’ll find that many resorts that charge a premium during their peak season are far more economical if you book outside the most popular months of the year. In some cases that means taking a different style of vacation; for example, a trip to an exclusive ski resort in the summer won’t involve a lot of time on the slopes! However, your accommodation and the facilities will still be just as luxurious. You can also enjoy the luxury lifestyle by heading for less well-known destinations. Countries that are lower down the list of popularity when it comes to taking a vacation can offer the same levels of luxury at a fraction of the price of staying at the most sought-after destinations. For instance, a five-star hotel in Bulgaria will be just as luxurious as one in France or Italy, but considerably less expensive.

If your idea of a fabulous vacation is to live a luxurious lifestyle for a week, then with a little research you could find the special offer that makes your dreams come true.

It used to be so easy for me to travel at different times of year when the costs were lower before my son entered school. Now we have to travel on school vacation weeks which are always peak pricing. I do keep my eyes peeled for deals all the time though.

I would say for American/European/Australian travelers you can get advantage of different exchange rates, travel down to South East Asia and make your money worth double even triple there, for example Indonesia-Bali, you get a truly luxury hotel under 80 bucks and the best dishes you can imagine. Even lux spa treatment and transportation like private car is super affordable.
