Doggies Dilemmas when Traveling

Doggies Dilemmas when Traveling

My dogs put on a sad face every time they see me pull out the suitcase.    My oldest “Emy” climbs in, hoping that I’ll either take her with me or she’ll stop me for going.   I love to travel but I feel so terrible leaving my pets all alone.

One of my biggest problems now is who’s going to watch the dogs when we travel.

It was very convenient when my mother was living nearby and she would take care of them while we were gone.  She recently moved up north.   Most of the time we find friends to stay at the house with the dogs.   This way it doesn’t stress them out more and they like being home.   The few times we’ve had to put them in a pet lodge it’s quite expensive.   They charge you for overnight stay, walks, treats, baths, food, etc.   Before I know, it’s costing us more money to board the dogs in a pet lodge than my own hotel accommodations.

This past summer we paid for my cousin who lives in Spain to fly to the states to babysit the dogs while we were traveling for 3 weeks.  Yes, it was cheaper for me to pay for his ticket here verses what it would of cost to board two dogs for twenty-one days.   Unbelievable right?   My husband thought I was crazy for doing this of course, but it did solve our problem.

I have no idea how people stay anywhere for a week or longer!  These are the dilemmas one faces when they travel and have pets.

I too have relied on my dog loving friends, who love to take and care for my uber cute pet pug. My gratitude for having such great friends, otherwise travelling would become really tough.
