Just a ten minute drive from Ronda, a charming city that you can explore during your stay, sits Hotel La Fuente de la Higuera. This hotel is a beautifully renovated and updated olive mill where traditional Spanish architecture meets post-modern design. ItĀ was one of the highlights of our recent trip to Spain. Ronda was our first stop on our AndalucĆa Tour with Tomas Tours.
Upon arrival, we were immediately greeted by friendly and upbeat staff who showed us to ourĀ room. Ā Hotel La Fuente de la Higuera has only 11 rooms in total.
The rooms in Hotel La Fuente de la Higuera are light and airy, designed to stimulate a relaxing and soothing atmosphere. The beautiful northwest facing Double Rooms have a stunning view of the olive grove, and the bright colors and warm wood of the furniture give a comforting feel to the space.Ā We especially loved the mosquito netting around our bed.
There are no TVs in the bedrooms, but you can relax on a cool evening by your fireplace with one of the books they offer in their private library collection.
My suite had an ensuite bathroom which was very spacious for our personal use. It even had doors that you couldĀ open towards the outside patio area. Ā We decided to keep them closed, of course. Ā The bathroom was will equipped with fresh towels, a towel warmer, and a nice selection of Alogotherm products.
Each room comes with a terrace or garden attached. Ā Ours had a nice lounge chair for two and a small table facing the gardens.
Just outside my room was theĀ hotelās lounge area surrounded by plants and their honesty bar where you could help yourself to wine, beer, liquor, drinks, and snacks. We enjoyed a glass of wine right before dinner.
The unique fireplace in the hotel’s lodge area was one that we had never seen before. Ā It was an industrial size fireplace, and we were sure it keeps everyone warm during the cold winter days.
In the morning, they politely asked whether youāll be dining in for the night, and if you are, you are asked to choose an item from the menu. They serveĀ three meals a day just to your liking. There are plenty of vegetarian options, and dishes can easily be adjusted to accommodate any selective palettes or young children accompanying you. Yum!
When we got hungry, we wandered down to the lovely dining area. Ā They offer indoor and outdoor seating which is always a plus. Ā We preferred sitting outdoors and enjoying the fresh air, and the beautiful AndalucĆa scenery around us.
Breakfast is a buffet of delicious foods made fresh every day, as well asĀ coffee, tea, or juice, as you prefer it. Ā We helped ourselves to some fresh pastries, Spanish hams, and cheeses.
We didn’t stay for lunch since we were touring Ronda, but it’s also a relaxed affair, with food prepared and cooked as you order, including a selection of tapas, paellas, salads and sandwiches. Dinner, however, in the real attraction!Ā You’ll experience fine dining every evening, served by candlelight. The food itself is prepared by chefs who have worked in Michelin-starred kitchens and use only the freshest, and organic ingredients.
Once youāve eaten your fill, there are plenty of activities to take up your time and satisfy any whim you may have! Itās hard to beat catching rays of sunshine while lounging by the pool, but if youāre interested in more movement based activities, you can always hike the gorgeous surrounding area as an option.Ā Horseback riding can also be arranged for you!
If you venture into Ronda, there are even more activities to try out, including wineries, monuments and nature reserves that are sure to keep you busy during your stay.
Hotel La Fuente de la Higuera is run by a close-knit family, so that you truly know their dedication to comfort and relaxation. The rest of the staff is courteous and efficient, and work under the assumption that there is no matter too small to attend to if it will make your stay just that much better. You’ll arrive immediately feeling like family, and youāll leave feeling like nothing short of royalty. Go on adventures in Ronda or stay and stretch out by the hotel pool; the choice is yours!Ā Either way, youāre sure to feel pampered and pleased by the Hotel La Fuente de la Higuera. Whatever your choice may be, your experience is sure to be an incredible one!

March 11, 2017 at 2:46 pmI would love to get back to Spain to explore this area. The purple flowers and bright green trees that surround the Hotel la Fuente de la Higuera are so pretty. The pool looks like a lovely spot to catch some sunshine, and the rubber duckies floating in it are an adorable touch. I think I’d make use of that honesty bar and would love to eat dinner prepared by chefs who have worked in Michelin star kitchens. Overall, looks like you found a real gem, Carmen!

March 11, 2017 at 4:24 pmI spent a day in Ronda years and years ago and since then I’ve always wanted to go back. This hotel looks like a wonderful place, and I really like that it is small which means you get more personalized attention. When I go back, I will look into this option and definitely enjoy a candlelight dinner there.
