How to Travel the World and Earn Your Degree

Do you have a desire to travel the world for your career? There are many careers available to everyone in the world and some of them allow for a certain amount of traveling. So, if you have always wanted to travel the world, but wanted to earn a degree during the same time period, you have options. Learning life lessons from different cultures is never a bad thing. In fact, it has been encouraged for many years. Here are some ways that you can travel while earning a degree at the same time.

Planning For the Future

Just like with anything else in your life, planning is going to have to be a part of it. Now, toss all of the things you are used to aside and get ready to travel, as you know for sure that you will not be able to do much without some form of planning. There are degrees out there that call for you to travel to the far reaches of the world and that might be the category that you start with. For example, a counseling degree online might have you travel to different parts of the world to see how other cultures deal with social problems.

Don’t Forget About Money

In your haste to plan a situation where you end up enjoying the best Italian food right from Italy, you might have forgotten about the overall costs to do so. Take the time to add “financial aid” to the list of things that you have to plan on getting. Before getting the aid that you will need, it does not make much sense to do any extensive planning. If money is not an issue for you and you are sure that you will be able to work for more if needed, then planning will be a little easier for you. In some cases, you might be able to pick up some work as a counselor in another location and that can help you with your online counseling degree at the same time.

Technology is Your Friend

Being able to earn a degree while traveling the world has never been easier. With the help of technology and the fact that colleges see the need for online courses to help students, essentially you can earn your degree while being on the other side of the world. This also takes some planning. You do not want to get stuck in a place that does not have a good internet connection so you can access courses, etc. We all love technology and what it does for us and now you do not have to give it up in order to enroll in college from anywhere in the world.

As you can see, traveling the world is a great thing to do and it can be done even if you are trying to earn a degree from an online college. Do not let the fact that you are not at a “traditional” college keep you from experiencing your dreams.

  1. Very nice article. I already have my Masters degree and have just started a long term world travel. However I’d still like to learn something more in terms of higher education. So I’ll deffinately have to consider some of the aspects you’re mentioning here. Have you earned your degree while traveling? What was the most challenging for you?

The most challenging aspect can be organizing your time, especially abroad. I wish you all the best, Anete!

  2. Interesting article to read. Wish I did my masters degree (or should I ask say degree as I left college and went straight into work) 😀 Hope to do some studying in the future, but who knows. 😀

It’s never to late! Traveling itself is certainly an education 🙂

  3. Technology is your biggest friend if you want to learn while on the go. You can do things these days that you couldn’t do 10 years ago, love it!

I know, advanced technology offers so many more opportunities now!

  4. Technology and also a reliable internet connection wherever you’re traveling is key to successfully studying online. I love the idea of distance learning, as it allows so much more freedom to travel or manage other aspects of your life more flexibly.

You’re definitely right about that, Jackie! Thanks for commenting 🙂
