Finding Luxury Accommodation: Tips on How-To Select Only The Best

LIFESTYLE, LUXURY AIRLINES & CRUISES TOURS, LUXURY HOTELS, TRAVEL

When it comes to staying in luxury accommodation, you don’t have to be one of the rich and famous to get the best room. There are a few tips and things to remember that will help you choose and get the best luxury room possible.

Look for Bank Card-Related Extras

Many banks and bank accounts offer clients different extras, a lot of them within the travel industry. When you buy an Adairs premium mattress, for example, with an American Express, depending on your account, you could be earning travel miles. Other accounts may offer discounts on stays at particular hotels or within particular hotel chains. This will often allow you to get a luxury for a discounted price.

Be Flexible with the Location & Date

The first thing you should do is become more flexible with where you stay and when you stay there. One of the best ways to get an affordable luxury hotel room is to stay there during the shoulder seasonRegarding location, it is often not the best idea to book a hotel in the center of a city or right near the tourist hotspots. These hotels will often have a premium and can cost way more than they should during the busy times.

Don’t Select a Package Deal

When it comes to luxury accommodation, one method that some people choose is a holiday package. While, on the surface, they may look very appealing, it doesn’t mean you’ll have the best guest experience and they often cost more than what you would spend on each individual element.  Instead, spend the extra money on a non-package holiday, as you can save money on things such as meals, drinks, spa treatments, etc.

Book Through the Hotel’s Website

Another strange anomaly that you will notice is that the best way to book a room at a luxury hotel is to book through the hotel’s website. Many aggregator websites tend to display the best price in their eyes, and not necessarily the cheapest price. The official hotel website will have the best and cheapest prices and will also have far more options available when it comes to booking and room options.

Book in January

Another trick to getting the best choice of luxury accommodation is to book in January. The beginning of the year is when most people are trying to save money after Christmas and New Year, and therefore not many people are booking holidays. This allows you to have far more choice and also means you are more likely to come across a discount or a New Years special.

Start on Sunday

Another strange tip that you may not know is that many travel experts suggest starting your holiday or short getaway on a Sunday. This is because many people tend to go back home on a Sunday, especially those on a weekend away. While this can be slightly inconvenient, if you are able to get the time off for a holiday during the week, starting it on Sunday is the best idea.

Use a Tour Operator if Need Be

If you get stuck, a tour operator is the easiest route to go when booking a holiday. A tour operator will not only help you choose the best hotel and destination for your needs and budget, but they also have a few extra benefits. Tour operators and companies will often have close relations with certain hotels and hotel chains and can often give you a discount if you choose to stay at one of those hotels.

Luxury Accommodation Myths:

There are a few myths associated with luxury accommodation, and three of the biggest ones are that it is best to travel in the off-season, a late booking will get you a room bump, and room upgrades are easy to get.

Off-Season Travel – While there is a little bit of truth to the “travel in the off-season” sentiment, it is considered a myth because it covers the actual best time to travel; the shoulder season. The majority of countries in the world often just have different weather in the off-season, not necessarily less to offer. However, the shoulder season, which typically falls around the school holidays, is a genuinely quiet time to travel as parents are working and kids are in school.

Late Booking – Even though this is a myth that is easily dispelled, many seem to think booking a hotel late is like booking a flight late; there is more of a chance of getting bumped up to first class. This isn’t true with hotels, they aren’t going to upgrade your room because the one you want is fully booked.

Room Upgrades – The same thing as above can be applied to room upgrades. While you may get lucky every now and then, luxury hotels aren’t giving out room upgrades for free or discounted simply because you asked; they often don’t need to do that as enough people are booking anyway.

As you can see, choosing luxury accommodation is not only quite easy, but it is also possible for many people to do. These tips will steer you in the right direction and allow you to save some money in the process, too.
