It’s hard to beat the Mediterranean when it comes to travel, and if you’re after a luxury treat, then that’s all the more reason to check out the Med as the destination of choice. With the variety of countries, cultures, and about 300 days of glorious sunshine a year, itās no surprise that the Mediterranean is one of the most popular places in the world to explore. Whether youāre traveling alone, with friends, family or your partner, you wonāt struggle to find a huge variety of activities and locations in which to recuperate, regenerate and let your hair down. For those of us that like to enjoy the finer things in life, here are the top ways that you can travel the Mediterranean in absolute style.

Where to stay
While many people opt to book their places on a Mediterranean cruise, which means that they can island-hop to their heartās content, others choose to spend their time in the med wallowing in the finest holiday accommodation imaginable. Whether you decide to stay at a vineyard in the south of Italy or treat yourself to one of the luxury Santorini villas in the Greek islands, thereās something to appeal to every traveler that appreciates the finer things in life.
What to do
The best thing about heading to the Mediterranean is the sheer variety. For beach lovers, you wonāt find a more tantalizing and luxurious array of white sand and bright blue seas, and for those of you after a bit of nightlife, the entire coastline of the Mediterranean is a smorgasbord of clubs, restaurants, and cafes that serve the freshest fish and national specialties that the region is famous for. Healthy and tasty, thereās something for everyone, whether itās authentic Italian pizza or Dolmades from Greece, every palate is going to be able to find a way to treat those taste buds.

How to make the most of it
Depending on what kind of holiday youāre planning, youāll want to do some checking around before you depart with a suitcase full of shorts and sunscreen. Thereās so much to do in the med that itās important that you decide what kind of holiday youāre looking for. For the families that want a quiet week on the beach, youāre probably going to want to avoid the noisy destinations that are famous for their nightlife, and for those that want to explore ancient ruins and museums, then a little research will make sure that you donāt get too far off-track. Check with your traveling companions and get yourself clued up on the endless possibilities of Mediterranean travel, and youāll stand a much better chance of making your holiday one to remember.

No matter what kind of holiday youāre after, for those of us that like to travel without the loss of the perks, the Mediterranean is the perfect blend of the ancient world and the modern luxuries that make life easier to enjoy. Time occasionally feels as if it has come to a standstill in the med, and what better way to get the very best out of your holiday excursions?

February 28, 2018 at 9:09 amI’m an Archaeologist specialised in Ancient Greek and Roman history, so the Mediterranean is truly my favorite place to travel to, may it be in the Greek islands, Spain, Italy, France or Turkey! Even if we never really look for luxurious vacations, we always end up experiencing a more luxurious travel lifestyle in the Mediterranean than anywhere else in the world.

March 1, 2018 at 7:45 amThe Mediterranean is such a great place and is so varied even from one town to the next. I have to say I don’t think that a luxury villa is indispensable as so much of the joy of the Mediterranean, for me, comes from the simple pleasures of sun, friendly locals, and of course yummy food!
