Le MĆ©ridien Vienna has longĀ been aĀ popular andĀ iconic Viennese art hotel. Located right on the famous Ringstrasse and only a stroll away from the Vienna State Opera, and all the historical attractions, this 5 star deluxe hotel’s location takes the trouble and expense out of sightseeing.Ā Ā In September 2016, Ā a major facelift was completed transforming the facade, reception, restaurant, and bar andĀ addingĀ new meeting rooms.
The transformation Ā reinterprets the hotel into a contemporary space for socializing and business exchange while enhancing its status as an architectural landmark. The renownedĀ BEHFĀ architectural firm developed the new concept.
We wereĀ invited by the hotel to be part of the grand re-opening celebration, Ā and activities. It was our first time visiting Vienna, and we were over the moon excited to spend the next few days in the city.
First Impression
The magnificence of the hotel speaks for itself: the building is a faithful representation of the centuries-old architecture of Vienna. A significant aspect of the renovation wasĀ the relocation of the entrance portion of the building to Robert-Stolz-Platz, which is located between two monuments, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Friedrich von Schiller. This entrance is smaller and therefore more private, elegant, and intimate. The cultural and historical importance of the site has been ingeniously brought to the forefront.
The reception area is discreet and welcoming the minute you enter the building. After a quick and easy check in process we headed to our room.
Accommodation
The 294 rooms including suites are distinguished by high quality exhibits from the Ā in-house art collectionĀ and theĀ original furniture pieces. I stayed in an Executive City Room, shaped like an attic, which turned out to be very spacious and bright. It was equipped with a desk, personalized TV, minibar and a comfortable king size bed with beautiful artistic details in the headboard that appeared in the evening when I turned off the lights.

They even had a balloon and a tray of sweets and juice awaiting our arrival in the room.

The bathroom was truly relaxing and large with a free-standing Victorian bathtub, whose pink color contrasted with the green light from the sink and white towels.
One of the most beautiful details of the room was the customized welcome pillow that they leave for everyĀ hotel guest. Ā My heart skipped a beat when I saw my logo on the pillow. Ā I enjoyed a flawless presentation at all times and wonderful, efficient room service. The cherry on top was the gorgeous view of the city through the window.

Dining Options
TheĀ YouĀ ViennaĀ restaurant wasĀ built as a convenient extension to the lobby which makes it particularly convenient for a business meeting, a drink or a meal. Ā Surrounded by greenery and lit by natural skylights, it’s separated in two parts by a shelving unit. Ā The opposite side of the space can be used as a lounge for special events. Ā That’s where some of our events were held. Ā The menu consists of both international recipes and localĀ traditional cuisine. Ā We had a delicious lunch at You our first day. Ā They offer a huge selection to suit all tastes.

In the hotel, you will Ā also find the Latitude Bar that is accessible from all sides. Quiet niches with plush, pillowed benches closer to the ground and velvet-upholstered furniture provide a sense of comfort.
For an enjoyable breakfast or snack, Le MoĆ«tĀ ChampagneĀ Bar offers guests a selection of deliciously sweet dishes accompanied by the best traditional coffee. If you want to enjoy the view of the street, the bar has a terrace area, similar to those found outside of Vienna’s famous CafĆ© Landtmann or CafĆ© Schwarzenberg.

We drove 20 minutes outside of Vienna and had a wonderful lunch in the countryside at  Wirtshaus Steirerstöckl tavern the next day, a real piece of Austria in Vienna with traditional cuisines, and products grown from their farm.
The next morning we were treated to a sumptuous breakfast organized by Café Oper Wien in a private room of the State Opera of Vienna.  That even surprised us with a musical accompaniment of Nouvelle Vague at breakfast. What a treat!
But if you wish, you can order room service for breakfast while you stay in Le MƩridien. The breakfast consist of a wide selection of delicious baked goods, juice, coffee, milk and other side dishes.

Spa/ Fitness Center
The fitness center of Le MƩridien is one of the most fashionable in the city (complimentary for Le MƩridien guests). Once there, you can book a personal trainer. If you want to unwind a little you can also enjoy the jacuzzi, pool, steam baths, sauna, and a variety of massages at their spa that will leave you feeling relaxed and refreshed.

Re-Opening Party
Le MĆ©ridien Vienna Hotel celebrated its new facilities with a big reopening gala, after the completion of itsĀ remodeling. Le MĆ©ridien hosted an exclusive event featuring a performance by the French Bossa-Nova band Nouvelle Vague, marking the launch of their new album “I Could Be Happy”, which will be released on November 4th.

YouVienna team was responsible for the organization of the show and offering a wide range of snacks in the style of the traditional cuisine of Austria. The event also featured a special bar by Le Mƶet Bar in the pool area, where the famous visual artist Gerald Herlbauer projected scenes from the film La Piscine in the water.

The evening was curated with cultural and stimulating experiences and unique culinary moments for local trendsetters, influencers, and hotel guests.
Le Méridien Vienna location alone makes it one of the best places to stay in Vienna, because you are in the heard of it all.  We will definitely be coming back.
Le Méridien Vienna, Robert-Stolz-Platz 1, Vienna, 1010,  Austria
Disclosure: Ā I was a guest of Le Meridien Vienna and all opinions are, as always, my own.

October 21, 2016 at 8:23 amAs I said, Le Meridein Vienna is not the sort of hotel whose luxury overflows, but still it is. It’s characterized by combining luxury and discretion… And of course you can eat the dessert, if you can.

October 21, 2016 at 8:44 amThe best part of Le Meridien Vienna Hotel is the fact that outside retained a classical period style, but once you enter you’ll find it’s a very modern hotel.
