Fort Lauderdale is sometimes referred to as “The Yachting Capital of the World”. So it’s only appropriate for it to host the world’s largest in-water Boat Show for the past 57 years. It first launched in 1959 with 20 boats in the water and 30 booths in the parking lot. Today it’s a “must” for yacht builders worldwide who want to display their offerings, and for boat lovers to come and see some of these magnificent beauties on display.
Show exhibits range from yacht builders and designers to exotic cars and brokerage yachts. A wide variety of boats and sea vessels will be on display including runabouts, sportfishers, high performance boats, center consoles, cabin cruisers, flats boats, skiffs, express cruisers, sailing yachts, motor yachts, bowriders, catamarans, ski boats, jet boats, trawlers, inflatables, canoes, and extraordinary super yachts. (I hope I didn’t miss anything)
We had the pleasure of attending a party at last years Boat Show being hosted by YachtZoo. YachtZoo was figuring a few yachts and took us on a tour of their yachts. One of my favorites was the “Tuscan Sun”. The 147-foot long Tuscan Sun cruises at 12 knots and has a maximum speed of 17 knots. It can sleep up to 12 guests in 6 cabins. If you’re interesting in purchasing it, it’s only $24,950,000 dollars. Tuscan Sun is also available for charter in the Mediterranean.
You never know who you might run into at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show. You make sure you keep your eyes open and your camera close.
The 57th Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show will be held this year Nov 3 – 7, 2016.

October 7, 2014 at 2:42 pmHi Tamara, The boat show normally runs the end of October, beginning of November. Each year it seems to get bigger and better. It’s definitely a fun event to attend. Some of the boats are massive.

October 6, 2014 at 1:30 amHi Marissa, LOL..It only cost $2 million a year to run it. That covers the cost of the crew, fuel, and dockage I believe. I would love to charter this yacht for a week in the Mediterranean or sail it around the Greek Isles :-).

October 7, 2014 at 8:28 pmAh, what a great show. My husband would love that! The luxury inside these yachts is so tempting that for a few minutes you might even forget how bad sailing may turn sometimes. Sorry to sound so pessimistic but I’m afraid of sailing.

October 12, 2014 at 3:54 pmHi Mary, It truly amazes me the amount of wealth we have here in Fort Lauderdale. You see many of these multi-million dollar yachts docked everywhere. Some stay docked for months without moving. If I had a yacht that size, I would be sailing the Caribbean or the Mediterranean.

October 12, 2014 at 3:59 pmHi Bailey, They had inflatable tender boats that people use on yachts. Some of these yachts are too big to dock, so they use these inflatable tenders to take people on shore.
