The Westin Denver International Airport is an amazing airport hotel. It is a short walk (50 yards?) to the terminal and the building is strikingly gorgeous. Its great location, scenic views and modern amenities right next to the terminal could not be more convenient.
I personally dislike having to wake up extremely early to catch a flight. It’s particularly annoying to have to plan for extra time to get to the airport, drop off the car, and grab the shuttle to the terminal. So, when we booked our early morning flight out of Denver, the Westin DIA Hotel was selected as a sensible location to stay. It was much more than that!
The Lobby/Reception Area
The reception area is located on the sixth floor. One walks through a dramatic corridor before heading up the elevator.
Before getting to the reception area, you pass the Sky Lounge Bar which is also located on the sixth floor of the hotel. The lobby bar is open every evening from 5:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. It’s a great place to relax with a delicious cocktail and appetizer, while admiring the views of the Rockies.
Accommodations
With 519 soundproof guest rooms including 35 spacious, well-appointed suites, this hotel is a favorite among travelers. Our Junior Suite room was enormous, measuring 680 square feet. It came with a spacious living room and bathroom area. The room had a dramatic runway view but despite the proximity, it was dead quiet. This was surprising being that it was next to the terminal of a busy airport. No airplane noises could be heard from the interior of our room.
We mostly enjoyed the scenic views of the Rocky Mountains and Denver International Airport’s signature roof-top tents from our wall-to-wall windows. In the evening, the colors of the sunset were breathtaking, and the morning sunrise over the runway was even more spectacular. If the lights from the airport or runway are too bright, the window shutters can close to completely block the lights. We didn’t use the shutters during our stay.
Our Junior Suite bathroom had both a bathtub and a shower, a single vanity which featured the signature Westin Heavenly® Bath products, and a set of bathrobes. The view from the toilet window was of the runway.
Dining
Th Grill & Vine Restaurant is a bistro-style restaurant on the property, and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The dining room and bar look out over the plaza between the Westin and the Jeppesen terminal, while an outdoor patio faces south over the new light rail line.
Get your coffee craving at Ingredients, located in the hotel lobby. This grab-and-go cafe features coffee drinks, snacks, pastries, gourmet sandwiches, salads, and smoothies. It opens at 5am and remains open until 9pm.
Lastly, you can go to the Sky Lounge for a cocktail or appetizer if you get thirsty or are in the mood for some munchies.
Fitness/Pool Area
If you want to get in a little exercise on your trip, then make sure to check out the fully equipped fitness center, indoor heated lap pool and hot tub with panoramic views of the Rocky Mountains.
When it’s time to catch your flight, no worries, simply walk across the courtyard right into the main terminal. It’s that simple!
The Westin DIA is a Starwood property, we stayed free by using some of my SPG points. Next time we fly through Denver, we will definitely stay here again.
Note: The average room is around $380/night.

August 15, 2016 at 10:05 pmThe views from our room were amazing. You can spend hours staring out into the runway seeing the planes taking off and landing.

August 17, 2016 at 2:59 amThat lobby is stunning! And as for the bathroom. I might have been tempted to miss the flight 🙂

August 17, 2016 at 10:53 amThe lobby feels like your walking into a cave at first, but then opens up to the reception area and lobby bar. It was hard to not want to look out of the bathroom window at the runway when you’re getting ready.

August 17, 2016 at 4:37 amAh wow the views from the hotel look awesome. Airport hotels are often more about convenience but this has that lovely luxurious feel too. Will check it out if I have a flight there soon!

August 17, 2016 at 10:55 amAirport hotels are the way to go when you have a morning flight, especially when you’re traveling with teenagers who have a hard time getting up in the morning. Here you just roll out of bed, and can be at the terminal in 5 minutes.

August 17, 2016 at 5:20 amMy gosh, this hotel looks incredible! My experience with airport hotels has always been a bit yucky – I normally wind up in prison-cell sized cabins or dodgy B&B’s that are miles away from the airport. I need to find more places like this!!

August 17, 2016 at 10:57 amWe have stayed at some not so nice hotels a few miles from the airport. The Westin DIA was very clean and the rooms were spacious. The views from our rooms were amazing.

August 17, 2016 at 12:40 pmWow! That’s quite an impressive hotel! The look of it alone from the outside is really unique. I wouldn’t have believed that you can’t hear the planes from your room, but I guess it’s true! Thanks for sharing!

August 18, 2016 at 9:41 amThe windows are all soundproof so you don’t hear any of the outside noise from the planes or cars in the airport.

August 18, 2016 at 9:14 amI love how big those bathroom is! And the architecture of the hotel is really impressive. Indeed it doesn’t look like an airport hotel but of a designer one.

August 18, 2016 at 9:42 amThe airport looks like a mustache from a distance, or a cruise ship. It’s quite an impressive design for sure.

August 18, 2016 at 9:25 amYou’re right> It certainly isn’t your typical airport hotel. It looks fantastic. I love the view from the room and the food looks awesome. I wouldn’t mind staying here at all 🙂

August 18, 2016 at 9:48 amThe views were spectacular from my room, although not all the rooms face the runway.

August 19, 2016 at 9:02 amI love a good airport hotel and especially if you can actually walk there! Sometimes they are so annoying to reach (too short for a taxi ride, complicated shuttle bus…) so this looks great. Will definitely remember that if I ever have a layover in Denver!

August 20, 2016 at 10:36 amThe nearest airport was about 7 miles away before they build the Westin. I rather stay at the airport than have to deal with the hassle of taking shuttles or driving to catch a flight.

August 20, 2016 at 10:09 pmOh my!!! watching the runway from your bathroom is enough reason for families with young kids to just check in there even if they didn’t have an early flight to catch!! You’re right, totally not what I’d expect from airport hotels! That sunrise looks stellar too
Carmen Edelson
August 21, 2016 at 11:03 amThe kids would be starving out the windows the whole time looking at the planes taking off and landing.

August 21, 2016 at 10:17 amThe hotel looks really futuristic. Looks straight out of a ScFi movie . Looks like a great place to relax. I would go there just for its unique structure and interiors.

August 21, 2016 at 11:08 amI was intrigue when I saw the hotel from a distance, but up close you could see that it had wonderful views of the airport and the mountains from all angles. It’s a wonderful hotel, and of course has the best location.

August 21, 2016 at 9:08 pmI’ve stayed at this Westin! I love this hotel, you can actually walk there from the airport and once you’re in there, it’s just magic. We stayed here for a night when our flight to Paris was cancelled, it was the perfect hotel to be stuck in.

August 29, 2016 at 11:24 amIsn’t it a great hotel! Just the fact that you don’t have to rent a car to drive to the terminal does it for me. It’s a great hotel to spend a night for morning flights or if your flight is cancelled.
