Who says you have to wait until Valentines Day or a special occasion to book a weekend away with your significant other?
Unsure of where to look? It all depends on what kind of break youāre looking for, and what you hope to experience. Whether itās taking in some beautiful views, experiencing a new culture, visiting a global landmark or just hoping to have a good nights sleep away from the kids! Stuck for a little inspiration? Donāt worry, read on for the best weekend break destinations you and your S.O will love.
Niagara Falls
What can we say about the honeymoon capital of the world? Plenty! This incredible feat of nature has to be seen to be believed, with so much to see and do around the falls and the area itself, itās no wonder that Niagara Falls has never faltered in its popularity with couples and solo travellers alike. Want to be really close to the action? Check into the Niagara Falls MarriottĀ for the best view guaranteed!
Reykjavik, Iceland
If youāre looking for that eclectic mix of incredible scenery, nature and equally fascinating nightlife then Reykjavik, Iceland is the place to be. Itās this combination that makes Icelandās capital one of the most popular city break destinations in Europe right now. The city is tightly packed so most of the shops, bars, restaurants and clubs are within walking distance of each other. And Reykjavikās volcanic terrain with itās beautiful sunrisesĀ and sunsets are the perfect way to start and evening and soothe a hangover.
A weekend in Iceland may be sweet but too short, so consider a longer visit next time. Try renting a camper because youāll be freer to travel wherever possible. Because camping in a campervan is popular in Iceland, youāll find campsites with essential facilities and of course, a camper to make your holiday with your partner comfortable and wonderful.
Krakow, Poland
Another rising star in the city break category of Europe, is the city of Krakow, Poland. You can experience landmarks, beautiful culture and the cityās incredible history by day and then let your hair down and bask in the cityās thriving nightlife after dark. Go and soak up the atmosphere in the central Grand Square in the Old Town ā known as, Rynek Glowny: the largest medieval town square in Europe.
Edinburgh, Scotland
Edinburgh is a city with so much to offer solo travellers, couples and families alike. Scotlandās capital has always been high on the list of most popular city break destinations and itās easy to see why. With historic streets lined with traditional pubs, ale houses, cafes and shops, to the beautiful Edinburgh Castle; the perfect destination for sightseers that you can find right at the heart of the city. Time it right and you can even get tickets to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and take a glimpse at the rising stars of the comedy circuit. And donāt forget to try one of the cities many Whiskey Tours, we canāt think of a better way to spend an afternoon with someone you love!
New York, New York
Considered the King of all city breaks, itās probably worth spending a few days here rather than a rushed weekend. From sight seeing iconic landmarks, to experiencing the food, the fast paced city and everything it has to offer. New York is not for the faint hearted -which is exactly why you should go!

October 28, 2018 at 12:27 pmAll of these sound awesome! Guess we’d want to combine New York with Niagara Falls since we have to travel all the way from Europe. Do you think these two would be easy to combine and how much time would we need if we don’t want to rush?

October 29, 2018 at 1:59 pmI would give yourself a whole day to go from New York to Niagara Falls, it’s only a few hours’ drive but travelling can be tiring so if you don’t want to feel rushed I would go with that.

October 29, 2018 at 9:13 pmWe just got back from Niagara Falls and we can confirm it’s a beautiful destination for couples. We are going to New York together in late January so we’ll take a few of your pointers for sure. BTW, I love your photo of the Falls. Stunning.

October 31, 2018 at 10:53 amWe had a sort-of honeymoon in NYC many years ago. It was lovely to stay away from the typical tourist attractions and just walk around looking for cool places. I would love to take a romantic trip to Edinburgh too!

October 31, 2018 at 7:33 pmEdinburgh is by far one of my favorite cities! I would say it is perfect for ANY time of year, but touring the city isn’t too exhausting because everything is so compact and close together (well mostly). I just read somewhere that Niagra is also a wistfully romantic location as well.

November 3, 2018 at 4:52 pmYes, I agree! I love how compact Edinburgh is.

November 1, 2018 at 4:14 pmKrakow is one of my favourite cities in Europe! I visited last spring and it really is a perfect city to see the sight with your SO and then snuggle up after a hot wine in one of the many cozy bars š Niagra Falls is, of course, a romantic classic, and I’m dying to drag my man to Edinbourgh!

November 3, 2018 at 4:53 pmEdinburgh is also very cozy and so historically beautiful!

November 1, 2018 at 4:29 pmAll of the above, I’d say. Edinburgh has been one of our favourite trips, so much so that we’ve been back a few times. We’ve never been to New York together though, so that surely has to make the list for us along with Krakow. It’s great to see some alternatives to the usual suggestions for couples.

November 3, 2018 at 4:53 pmHappy to share, Bernie! I think you’d love Krakow.

November 1, 2018 at 10:11 pmI always think of Niagra Falls as some romantic place, even though I’ve been there with my family growing up and my own family now that I’m all grown up. Maybe it’s because my parents honeymooned there? Maybe it’s because I hear of other people honeymooning there? Either way, I think it seems like such a special, romantic spot.

November 3, 2018 at 4:54 pmYes, it can be very romantic š
