In fact, these blossoms are so special that world-renowned New York-based interior Designer Tony Chi chose to redesign Park Hyatt Washington, D.C. hotel based around his love of D.C.’s famed cherry blossoms.
“My concept for Park Hyatt Washington, D.C. was to bring together a dynamic and attractive modernism with classic American style,” said Tony Chi, Principal and Founder of tonychi. “Modern for today’s sophisticated traveler, classic American in deference to the fashionable and historic area in which it is located. Park Hyatt Washington intimately connects guests and visitors with Washington, D.C.’s legacy of culture and style, a journey of timelessness that is expressed both from its past and today.”
In 2006, Chi initially completed a full redesign of the popular luxury hotel, and has returned to update the lobby and all 216 of their guest rooms. This magnificent multi-million dollar renovation combines Chi’s dynamic modern design vision with classic American style that fits the sophisticated traveler while connecting guests with the culture and style of Washington D.C. Inspired by D.C.’s bright, blooming spring colors, the hotel’s new guest room design features rich woods, dazzling gold accents, and custom glasswork by photographic glass artist Amanda Weil. Some of her glasswork can be found in the deluxe rooms and junior suites which feature large social tables, with inlaid cherry blossom glass art. No matter what time of year you stay, you’ll be sure to enjoy the essence of spring with these decorative touches!

This new “in-bloom” feeling is not limited to the Park Hyatt’s updated rooms. You will find that the hotel carries out this spring-inspired concept throughout, even to its Michelin-starred restaurant! The restaurant will soon introduce new culinary events, including a Season Garden Table, which is an outdoor, communal Chef’s Table experience.
