Living in Fort Lauderdale, we have many choices on where to dine. I like to go somewhere quiet, intimate, and I prefer going to restaurants with an ocean view. For some reason food tastes better when you’re looking at waves crashing onto the beach. One of my favorite waterfront restaurants here in Fort Lauderdale is Ocean2000.
Last night we decided to dine with friends at the Pelican Grand Beach Resort restaurant, Ocean2000. The restaurant is located in the boutique hotel and offers breakfast, Sunday brunch, and a casual seaside lunch and dinner with the option to sit inside or on the outside oceanfront patio.
Sitting outside on the patio seemed like a no-brainer because it was a beautiful evening and you’re seated literally steps away from the Atlantic Ocean. Waves were crashing and the breeze was whispering through the palm trees. The simple yet elegant place settings, wicker chairs, and candle lit patio were wonderful as darkness fell.
Come nightfall, the slick indoor dining room comes to life, illuminated by futuristic modern white chandeliers, ubiquitous candles, large comfy leather booths, and a glimpse of the ocean from its large windows.
We all ordered the Florida yellowtail snapper a la plancha (skillet-grilled) which was snapper over roasted tomatoes and mashed potatoes prepared with a Latin flair. It was so filling and delicious that I was left with no room for dessert.
This is a great restaurant to take out-of-town guests because of the view and delicious food options. It’s also a special setting to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, or just a romantic evening out.

August 17, 2015 at 7:09 pmWe really enjoy dining here by the water. I try to avoid restaurants where you can’t even hear yourself speak. Next time you come to Fort Lauderdale we’ll have to meet up.
