It’s Rum Time! Puerto Rico and Its Rum

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Rums of Puerto Rico for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

While I have many fond memories of Puerto Rico, the tour of the Barcardi Rum Factory is one of the highlights. It turns out that Puerto Rico has been distilling rum for more than 450 years, it’s the Rum Capital of the World.

Puerto Rico (Spanish for “rich port”) is a tropical gem that is easily accessible to Americans. The Spanish influence provides a rich culture, language and history with all the modern conveniences many travelers desire. The island has a lot to offer with its amazing people, food, and some of the best rum in the world. The locals are proud of their rum, and it is only natural in Puerto Rico to say “It’s Rum Time!”.

I have always loved history but been disappointed by how it’s taught.  We all have interests and our interests all have history.  I think the best way of studying history would be for everyone to be able to study history based on their own interests.

For instance, like to party? Like to drink? Like to have a good time?  Like rum?  Good, because it’s time to study history through some of the great parties, It’s Rum Time!

Thanks to and the Rums of Puerto Rico for creating this great resource: Rum Times.  Rum Times is a new web video series that tells the story of the world’s great achievements through the great parties held to celebrate them. The first episode’s exploration of the quest for electric light and historical features include key figures such as Thomas Alva Edison and Nikola Tesla.

With so much to see and do, right in America’s backyard, there’s no reason not to book a ticket to Puerto Rico. Check out It’s Rum Time and let me know what you think about the new series promoting the Puerto Rican Rum.

What a nice idea to celebrate the quest for light in this way

      Hi Suze,

I think it’s a great promotional ad that are running. Comparing the important events in the last few hundred years where rum has been used to celebrate.

What a fun video! Love the merge between history and rum! Although I grew up in Puerto Rico and travel there often, I’ve never been to Bacardi, although I would love to go to Serralles (more of a Don Q kinda girl). Great post!

Hi Jessica, I love my Pina Colada’s with a little rum. I thought the video was great too. When you think back on all the events in history, it’s hard to imagine that rum has been around this long.
