What do you think of when you think first class travel? Sir Tim Clark, the President of Emirates Airlines has said, “Emirates pioneered the First Class private suite concept back in 2003, and today it’s the industry benchmark when it comes to first class travel.” I couldn’t agree more. When I think of First Class flying, I feel like it’s impossible to even imagine the kind of luxury that Emirates delivers. They are truly in a league of their own when it comes to innovation, comfort, style and special features.
First Class on Emirates 777-300ER and A380
I was lucky enough to experience this unique style on Emirates nonstop flight from Fort Lauderdale to Dubai on their 777-300ER, then again from Dubai to Mauritius, in their beautiful A380 aircraft. I was beyond comfortable in my fully enclosed First Class private suite – inspired by Mercedes Benz. There were so many luxury features including room service via video calling, premium amenity kits, endless snacks, pajamas and more.
Let’s start with the space; at 40 square feet of personal space each, these fully enclosed private suits are laid out in a 1-2-1 configuration. This is the first time Emirates has partnered so closely with another luxury brand and you can see the Mercedes influence in the details like the soft leather seating, high-tech control panels and mood lighting. They also have zero-gravity seating and virtual windows for middle seats on their newest planes, how cool is that?!
You can adjust your seat from the portable remote control that controls almost everything in your suite. The seat has several positions, and even has a massage option. You can open/close the suite door, turn your lights off and on, call the flight attendant and even control the in flight entertainment. Everything is literally at your finger tips!
The suite comes with a massive television, two lamps, a vanity mirror, and a writing and toiletry kits, as well.
They kindly provide you with noise canceling headphones. On the window side, there is also a remote control that controls almost everything.
On my flight home, I was traveling with my husband and we choose the pair of center seats which have an adjustable wall that can be raised in the event you’re traveling alone (or want some quiet time from the person you’re traveling with).
Emirates First Class Suites do not have overhead bins, all carry-on items need to be stored underneath the television. I made sure to store my bag to one side to allow for the seat once it converted into the bed.
The Emirates First Class suite on the 777-300ER are actually bigger than the ones on the A380. It has a higher door and a higher wall which helps to provide more privacy when it’s time for bed. The moment you close those doors, you feel like you’re in your very own room which is such a nice and unique feeling on a commercial airplane.
When it’s time for bed, the Emirates Flight Attendants make your bed for you. They put a topper mattress over the seat which really makes it very comfortable. I’m one of those people that can never sleeps on a plane and I managed to get about 4 hours of sleep!
They also dim the lights of the plane, and the ceiling looks like little stars.
Emirates Airlines Food & Service
The food and service on Emirates is top notch. Whatever you want to eat, they will bring. Have a sweet tooth? No worries, a personal basket filled with candies will be sure to help your cravings!
A couple of minutes after settling into my seat, the flight attendant came by and offered to familiarize me with the suite and took my drink order. I asked for champagne and was offered a nice class of 2009 Dom Pérignon before take off, followed by some Arabic coffee and dates. Dates are very popular in the Middle East and they certainly hit the spot.
If you’re thirsty, you have your own personal minibar which can be raised and lowered by the push of a button in the suite. It offered Pepsi products, both still and sparkling water, as well as orange juice, and 7-up.
The menu is extensive, you can order anything from caviar to lobster tails. For my dinner, I enjoyed a delicious salad with fresh rolls to start, salmon cooked to perfection, and the most delicious chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream for dessert. I was so impressed with not only the quality of the food, but also the high level of service. Your wish is the friendly staff’s command, and ordering is made even easier if you want to do so with video calling any time during the flight.
While there isn’t a large bar like on the A380, the 777-300ER still offers a small bar for the passengers in the front. The service was so amazing during my flight, that I never had to get up to serve myself.
Each suite is fitted with an inspiration kit which features the luxury Byredo skincare collection found only on Emirates, as well as Hydra Active moisturizing pajamas and a Bulgari amenity kit. It is everything you could need to fully relax and enjoy some sleep on long flights!
Emirates exclusively has showers suites onboard the A380, which can also be used as bathrooms as well when they aren’t occupied. The two shower suites are at the front of the upper deck, one on each side. First Class passengers are allowed 30 minutes of shower time, however, you only get five minutes of water in the shower. Inside the shower is a timer, so you need to be quick when showering. I booked my shower time two hours before landing which was just perfect and so refreshing.
You are welcome to bring your own toiletries into the shower, but you’ll find it’s well stocked with VOYA Spa products, razors, shower caps, and even a blow dryer.
Being able to fly First Class on Emirates Airline was a dream. Everything from the incredible space to the high quality service and food is impeccable. I was absolutely spoiled and enjoyed every minute of my long flights. I recommend you spoil yourself too and experience this luxury- you deserve it!
