Five Most Luxurious Casino Resorts & Hotels In The World

In film and television, casinos are often the settings for the biggest displays of luxury and wealth imaginable. That’s certainly true for real life too with some truly incredible casino resorts and hotels across the world. When most people think of casinos, Las Vegas usually comes to mind soon after but these luxury resorts aren’t just confined to America’s West Coast. There are opulent structures across the world and this list looks at some of the most impressive casinos in Europe and Asia too. Let’s take a look at the top five.

#1 Bellagio, Las Vegas

It’s only right to start with a Las Vegas resort and the Bellagio is one of the most popular and best-known in Paradise. Constructed in the late-1990s, the Bellagio was built on the site of the old Dunes Hotel & Casino which was demolished in 1993. This mammoth complex is owned by MGM Resorts International and its main tower features over 3,000 rooms across 36 floors. The structure cost over $1.6 billion to construct.

Perhaps the most famous feature of the Bellagio is the 8-acre water feature. The Bellagio Fountains put on highly choreographed water performances each day. The complex also houses a fine art gallery and was the setting for the 2001 heist movie, Ocean’s Eleven. Suite prices vary but you can stay in the 14-room Presidential Suite for around $5,000 per night or opt for the Luxury Parlor Suite which comes complete with private pool table and games room.

#2 Monte Carlo, Monaco

Monte Carlo is perhaps the most recognisable and iconic casino on the planet. Residing in Monaco, the building is an iconic one and dates back over 150 years. It was originally constructed at the behest of Charles III, Prince of Monaco. The building has barely changed in the last century-and-a-half with The Monte Carlo’s iconic structure standing the test of time.

This has been reinforced through films and television. James Bond is often associated with the famous site with the gentleman spy visiting Monte Carlo in three separate films. Ocean’s Twelve was also shot at the site which is ranked by Forbes as the most iconic in the casino world. Just across the road is the iconic Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo where guests can stay in incredible conditions. Room rates vary from €526 per night all the way up to the Diamond Suite which will set you back €30,000.

#3 Marina Bay Sands, Singapore

If Monte Carlo is an iconic historic casino then Marina Bay Sands is a more modern equivalent. The incredible structure in Singapore is one of the most recognisable buildings in Asia which is impressive considering it only opened in 2010. With its iconic ‘surfboard’ SkyPark, the resort is the most expensive casino ever built with a value of $8 billion.

Built along the glittering waterfront, the Marina Bay Sands covers over 2 million square feet with countless bars, restaurants, and shopping space. Despite all of that, the main attraction is the site’s incredible casino. With over 1,500 slots and 600 table games, the Marina Bay Sands is one of the most impressive on the planet. Just be sure to brush up on your roulette skills at an online casino like Betway beforehand.

#4 Wynn, Las Vegas

It may have opened back in 2015 but Wynn, Las Vegas is still one of the biggest casino resorts on the planet. This $2.7 billion complex houses over 4,750 rooms and is still expanding. In 2018, Wynn launched a new $45-million shopping centre which houses boutique stores and high-end brands called The Wynn and Encore Esplanades.

The resort has won no shortage of awards down the years from AAA five diamond, Forbes five-star and a Michelin star for one of its on-site restaurants, Wing Lei. With its sister property, Encore Las Vegas, Wynn holds more Forbes five-star awards than any other resort and casino on the planet. It’s an impressive list of accolades which is justified given the quality of the resort. The one-bedroom Fairway Villa suites feature their own private massage room and are available from around $2,500 per night.

#5 Venetian, Macao

Las Vegas has become the go-to place for massive casino structures but the way things are going, it could soon lose that honour because Macao in China is quickly becoming the gambling capital of the world. This change has been fairly swift. In 2002, changes in gambling saw a whole host of casinos opened in the state. Now, a few dozen such sites operate but the most luxurious of all is the Venetian.

Named and modelled after its Las Vegas counterpart, the Venetian Macao is one of the largest buildings in the world by floor area. With almost 3,000 suites, the Venetian can cater to anyone’s accommodation needs and that’s without even including the gambling facilities. There are over 6,000 slot machines and 800 games tables in the resort which gives Las Vegas some real competition.
