Best Rooftop Breakfasts

FOOD + WINE

I had the most amazing breakfast again this morning. So I’m now inventing a new category in luxury travel: Best Rooftop Breakfasts in the World.   Today, we had breakfast at the rooftop restaurant on the 7th floor of the Royal Olympic in Athens called Ioannis Restaurant.  The food and the view were world class!

The other rooftop restaurant that rates at the top was our breakfast in Venice in March 2010 on top of the Hotel Danieli is the Restaurant Terrazza Danieli.

However, we’ve just arrived at the Canaves Oia Hotel & Suites in the town of Oia, Santorini, Greece. It’s incredibly scenic and I suspect the breakfast will make the list. Although, it’s not on a rooftop but the side of a cliff.

What are your favorite rooftop breakfasts?

Anybody know that Carmen hasn’t aged a bit? It jumps out at me in this post when there are pictures of her that are four years apart.

Thank you! It must be from all those rooftop breakfasts that I’ve had. 🙂

That view looks absolutely delicious…. I am a huge ‘breakfast fan’ although struggling to think of a good roof top one right now, shame on me!! Must get eating at higher altitude!

Hi Delia, Having a view definitely helps with the meal. The only issue is people don’t want to leave that fast, because they are admiring the scenery. When you think of one please share it with me and I’ll add it to the post and link it back to you.

My best rooftop breakfast was not exactly rooftop, but it was a mountain top breakfast 😉
We set off with a friend just before the crack of dawn and after an hour of hiking we ended up on the mountain top facing the East. Maybe our breakfast was not very fancy – coffee from the thermos and some freshly made sandwiches, but up there everything tasted just better 🙂
This is what I remember from the place 🙂 http://travelingilove.com/late-summer-in-the-tatra-mountains/#jp-carousel-566
