Alexis Carballosa Spring/Summer FEMBRA Collection Fashion Show

BEAUTY + FASHION, LIFESTYLE

Alexis Carballosa’s Spring Summer 2019 collection launch presented by Karma at the Miami Beach Botanical Gardens this past Thursday was a fierce success decked in vibrant colors and celebrating strong, feminine energy. A fairytale location decorated with twinkling lights and ponds filled with koi made the perfect setting for reveling in Alexis Carballosa Designs.

Alexis Carballosa, a Miami local and Venezuelan designer, is renown in both America and Europe for “bringing haute couture onto the streets”. Inspired by his grandmother and a passion for ecological practices, Carballosa’s work incorporates sustainable material and rejoices in the strength of women and the diversity of cultures around the world.

Upon entering the gardens, guests took pictures in front of a banner bearing the Carbollosa brand while being offered glasses of wine. A few steps down a charming path covered with fairy lights led to an opening where guests could pick from sweet treats such as biscuits covered in fondant or miniature carrot cakes done by Sweet Clementine CM.

Further along the path was a larger clearing where guests convened to view a video presentation introducing the FEMBRA collection and enjoyed music played by live band, National Symphony Jazz Band, and DJ Musicat.

Shortly after the last song, guests were ushered to their outdoor seats along the catwalk. Models strutted in swathes of bright orange, yellow, and red, some with billowing skirts or tight-fitted tunics. Many of the models bore bold make-up such as pink stripes down their foreheads or orange bolts of lightning over their eyes. Another striking feature was the addition of oversized wooden nose piercings, some of which linked up to their ears. Statement necklaces, prominent headpieces and daring flashes of skin all contributed to the fierceness and brilliance of the FEMBRA collection.

At the conclusion of the show, all of the models strutted the catwalk a final time for a last peak at FEMBRA. Alexis Carballosa came out briefly to thank everyone for coming, and DJ Musicat played as we all trickled out of the gardens. Overall, it was a fantastic night and none of us can wait to see what the future holds for Alexis Carballosa designs!
