The year is almost over and weāre pretty sure that youāre already booking flights and looking forward to your 2019 holiday! You may already have a destination in mind but if youāre still undecided, then weāve got just the right place for you where you can enjoy the sun, the sea, and everything awesome nature and culture have to offer.Ā
Top priority in every trip is making sure that it will be a smooth and hassle-free one, with everything you could ever need ā from accommodation down to food — easily accessible. Zakynthos, an island off the coast of the Ionian Sea in Greece is a travelerās paradise. Not just home to beautiful luxury villas, Zante, Zakynthosā capital town also boasts of majestic sights, friendly locals, rich history, and sumptuous food. Al of this and more makes it the ultimate spot for the most relaxing escapes and highly enriching cultural immersions.Ā Ā
Still not convinced? Read on for four more reasons why you should book your holiday here right at this moment.Ā
The villas
Just imagine, you are lounging under the Mediterranean sun near a big swimming pool all to yourself, with a majestic view of the sea in front of you. All of this while a spread of the most delicious Greek dishes prepared by a topnotch chef waits for you and your loved one to munch on. No need to imagine as all these are at the palm of your hands at one of the luxury villas in Zakynthos like Artina Villa.Ā Ā
Enjoy modern amenities like a tennis court if you want to break a sweat, as well as spacious and airy rooms for the most satisfying sleep, and a well-stocked bar and pantry when you feel like staying in. If youāre into meditation, a yoga and Pilates instructor is ready to give you a calming session. Another great point about staying here? The villa is tucked away at a secluded location away from the hustle and bustle but still conveniently near the town if youāre up for an exciting night out.Ā
The scenery
Ā Want a photo at the worldās most postcard-worthy beach? You can make this happen in Zakynthos! The islandās jewel, Navagio Beach, is just one of the many jaw-dropping spots which you can access via yacht tours and excursions. Thereās also the Blue Caves for the clearest turquoise water ideal for snorkeling, and Marathonisi Island for swimming with its adorable residents: the protected Caretta Caretta turtles. Have your villa in Zante arrange this for you!Ā Donāt forget to make a pitstop at other must-visits like the Keri Caves and Cameo Island!Ā
The food
Zakynthos is not only abundant in gorgeous locations, but also rich in flavors. Expect only the freshest seafood and produce straight from the boats and farms of the locals. True to Greek tradition, Zakynthos has their own wine, cheese, and olive oil which you can purchase bottles, jars, and wheels of when youāre craving the taste of Greece at home.
Other exciting ways to taste sumptuous Greek fare in Zakynthos is to do a food crawl of the taverns and restaurants on the island or enrolling yourself to a day of cooking lessons.Ā Ā
Ā The romance
Greece is generally a romantic country, but Zakynthos has its special brand of magic that makes it the dreamiest destination for romance. You can spend your honeymoon here, renting a villa for the most unforgettable first days as a married couple. You can also have your wedding in Zakynthos! Villas offer all-in services for a breezy celebration, including the reception venue and catering. Hit two birds with one stone ā exploring all the wonderful things Greece has to offer while saying yes to forever with your soulmate!

November 12, 2018 at 12:55 pmWe spent time in Patras nearby but have not visited any Greek islands, sadly – Zakynthos is just around the corner from there! The wine in Greece is so good and we think it is sad that Greek wines in the U.S. are hard to come by. The food is quite nice, too.

November 12, 2018 at 6:06 pmZakynthos is beautiful. We’ve been hoping to visit Greece for a few years now but haven’t quite made it. Our plan was Naxos and Milos but I’m definitely going to seek out Zakynthos.

November 13, 2018 at 5:22 amI have to confess that while we found parts of Zakynthos island beautiful, we hated Zante town, which was a rowdy resort with cheap bars and food that was definitely not the best of what the island has to offer. We did love heading out of the resort to explore the rest of the island, which was beautiful and taking some boat trip excursions as well!

November 13, 2018 at 2:20 pmEverything about this place looks luxurious but the food photo looks like it’s right out of a high-end food magazine photo shoot!! If that’s what the everyday food looks like, their food crawl must be absolutely amazing!

November 14, 2018 at 12:53 pmSo I’m convinced! Those vistas look out of this world. How are the crowds there? Just curious if it’s busy because I haven’t heard much about this island as an American but have no idea if everyone else knows! Either way, I’m putting it up on my future travel list!

November 14, 2018 at 7:49 pmZakynthos beaches sound superb, but it is the food that has me going WOW!!! But then having traveled a fair bit around Greece — sailing a number of years ago from island to island — the food is pretty much fabulous anywhere you go, if you know where to look. So, of all the places you have visited in Greece, which one is YOUR favorite?

November 15, 2018 at 10:50 amThose beautiful olives are veritably leaping out from the screen. You’ve shared a lovely vision of pampering and relaxation in a villa stay here. I can certainly imagine wanting to find all those beautiful coastal spots, exploring caves and hidden beaches, and watching sunrise and sunset by the water. This is a place to dream about on a day like today, when it’s mighty chilly, and the sun’s warmth on my back seems a long way away.

November 15, 2018 at 7:32 pmYou don’t need to work hard to convince me – I LOVE Greece. I’ve never been to Zakythos, but I have been to mainland Greece and Santorini. This place looks just as gorgeous as the rest of the country, and I need to visit!

November 16, 2018 at 5:41 pmWhat a dream it would be to visit Zakynthos – well any of the Greek Islands for that matter! It really is postcard perfect. Navagio Beach looks spectacular and too good to be true. I’d love to swim and snorkel there! And definitely do a food crawl, Greek food sounds amazing – cheese, wine and olive oil – I’m up for all of that! What a stunning place, and very romantic. Sigh! I just wish it was closer to NZ!
