Prince Raghavendra Rathore of Jodhpur Launches Menswear Line in UK

BEAUTY + FASHION, LIFESTYLE, LONDON

Having the opportunity to dress like royalty is something that everyone fantasizes about every once in a while. Men with discerning taste and a shrewd eye will have the opportunity to dress in a fashion line from the bright, creative mind of royalty with Prince Raghavendra Rathore of Jodhpur’s luxury menswear line that is being released in the UK for the first time. His international line is a smooth blend of old world charm and dignity with the ease and elegance of the modern man.

1400 years of Jodhpur heritage is steeped into this line, along with all the knowledge and study that Prince Raghavendra Rathore has partaken in which started with his study of Renaissance Art. He found his passion for fashion design Parsons School of Design in New York, and went on to work with Donna Karan, New York and then with Oscar de la Renta. All of these experiences culminated in him launching his own label in India, the Raghavendra Rathore label, in 1994.

Speaking about the launch of the brand in the UK, Raghavendra Rathore says:

“I’m excited the UK will get to experience, firsthand, the flamboyancy of the Maharaja’s of Jodhpur, transposed in time by my meticulous craftsman and presented with a dash of British elegance. The collection highlights will be Classic Bandhgala Nehru jackets, Jawar waistcoats, Jodhpur breeches and Achkans, all of which will beautifully complement the soul of London. I’m also honoured that the designs and the cuts of my rural craftsman have found a place in a global hotspot like the UK, and this means a lot to my team.”

Take a peek into this season’s lookbook and take note, men! Traditionally stylish yet effortlessly chic and modern is the look that every man should be going for.

Rathore Breeches

The central theme of the brand is polo, which has been known as the sport of kings, and has historically been associated with the house of Jodhpur. Riding breeches, a necessity of the sport, has been the label’s major contribution to the world of fashion. The style lends to the imagination a certain standing of those wearing them, and a luxurious lifestyle. In this way, the brand brings people of international backgrounds to connect with the sport, and the style itself.

The piece has been worn by royalty and nobility from generation to generation, and effortlessly brings Indian heritage to the global community. Waistcoats and Waistcoast Sets

Raghavendra Rathore has created a signature style of waistcoats that can be worn in a more traditional, Eastern style or can pleasantly offset a more Western look, such as tailored shirts, suits, and pants. Bright block colors and patterned fabrics add richness to any look, and the velvet based waistcoats adds that perfect touch of royalty to any chosen ensemble.

Kurta

Kurtas, both long and short, are one of the more versatile Indian fashions, and can be worn by themselves, or with an outfit that might feature a waistcoat. For a Western twist, feel free to pair them with denim or a straight cut pant. This piece can easily be dressed up for formal occasions, or dressed down for more casual affairs.

Bespoke Tailoring

To carry on the tradition of aristocratic tailor services, there is a methodical practice from measuring to fabric selection, customisation and fittings, and to the completion of the garment that dates back 1400 years. This work is done so as to bring relevance and authenticity to each piece and ensemble, which shines through in the finalized product.

That’s interesting that your dad owns a men’s clothing store. I’ve always been interested in fashion and like to see the latest styles when they come out.

This is fantastic. I have the need to wear a suit or tux so rarely now, but always wanted to purchase one that falls into these styles. Not that I’ll be able to purchase one of these directly, this is definitely inspiration for an upcoming event I must shop for. PS: kurtas are so underrated and need a prominent place in western formal culture. They are so interesting and make fancy more fun.

We are invited to many fancy parties, and my husband is always in a suit. I think we are going to be seeing more Kurtas in mens fashions in the future.

I also know nothing about mens fashion. :p Usually I just get useful outdoor clothes that are good for travelling from second hand or for free. Functional wear is more important to me when travelling around the world and exploring nature. 😉

My husband is the same way, but on occasion he likes to dress up in a suit or tux.
